Urban and Regional Planning is an interdisciplinary discipline that encompasses both urban design and urban planning and has historically taken a top-down approach to the physical development of human settlements. Quantity Surveying is part of the large Environmental Science subject domain that shares much of its knowledge base with other disciplines. It primarily deals with measurements, costing and management of resources in the building construction process. Quantity surveying is concerned with the provision and analysis of information for decision making and resource allocation and most often, project management in the built environment.
