Urban and Regional Planning is an interdisciplinary discipline that encompasses both urban design and urban planning and has historically taken a top-down approach to the physical development of human settlements. The design aspects include creating and moulding the physical qualities of urban and rural areas, as well as planning for municipal service delivery to improve inhabitants’ health and well-being while adhering to sustainability requirements.

Estate Management is concerned with the analysis, direction, supervision and control of interests in landed property with the aim of securing optimum return. Quantity Surveying is part of the large Environmental Science subject domain that shares much of its knowledge base with other disciplines. It primarily deals with measurements, costing and management of resources in the building construction process. Quantity surveying is concerned with the provision and analysis of information for decision making and resource allocation and most often, project management in the built environment.
