BSc Quantity Surveying

Quantity Surveying is part of the large Environmental Science subject domain that shares much of its knowledge base with other disciplines. It primarily deals with measurements, costing and management of resources in the building construction process. Quantity surveying is concerned with the provision and analysis of information for decision making and resource allocation and most often, project management in the built environment. The profession requires that students have a broad knowledge base and acquire skills for managing and effectively integrating strands of information from diverse subject areas.

The programme is structured to ensure that student projects would expose them to problem solving skills through the use of modern techniques such as operational research mathematics and information technology tools. It will expose them to both the theoretical and practical experience of the industry.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: English, Physics, Mathematics, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Commerce, Biology and Economics

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: Candidates who have successfully completed the Senior Secondary School or its equivalent and obtained five credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and two other subjects from the following list will be eligible for admission currently through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME); Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Economics, Geography, Chemistry, Biology, and Commerce.

The students will be taught using the following methods: Lectures, seminars, group work, tutorial site visitations and presentations. Through these methods of teaching, the students will be well grounded in public and private sector applications of quantity survey knowledge in the construction industry.
