The programme aims to achieve the following:

  • Provide a well-balanced theoretical and practical education that equips students with the requisite knowledge and skills for effective professional practice.
  • Enable students to develop their intellectual, analytical, and critical abilities to control the technological, economic, human, and material resources involved in the building production process.
  • Equip students with the ability to locate, extract, and analyze data from multiple sources, including drawings and other contract documents.
  • Equip the student with comprehension of the environmental, social, economic, and technological contexts underlying design and construction in the built environment.
  • Inculcate adequate knowledge, attitudes, specialized skills, and character in students that will upon their graduation enable them work effectively within a team in the construction industry.
  • Provide the student with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to enable him/her to be self-reliant.
The objectives of a degree programme in building are to train competent graduates in the building construction process and its management. In addition, the programme should provide sufficient general knowledge and specified skills/techniques which will enable the professional builder to co-ordinate and control the technological, economic, human, and material resources involved in the building process. The building graduate is also trained to interact with other allied professionals in the construction industry and be fully equipped for public service and self-employment.

Study Modules

The objectives of a degree programme in building are to train competent graduates in the building construction process and its management. B.Sc. Building - FAQs

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: English, Physics, Mathematics, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology and Economics

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: Candidates who have successfully completed the Senior Secondary School or its equivalent and obtained five credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and two other subjects from the following list will be eligible for admission currently through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME);
Building Construction, Land Surveying, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Economics, Geography, Chemistry and Biology.
