The International Relations and Diplomacy curriculum has a multi-disciplinary scope. Required courses cover the disciplines of international relations, political science, economics, international law, international organizations, and diplomacy. The choice of electives is made in accordance with the domain in which the candidate wishes to pursue his or her research.

Study Modules

Research in Politics and International Relations explores the theory, practice and ethics of politics and governance. We cover a broad area of expertise, from local policy to global governance, political theory to empirical studies, constructivism to rational choice approaches.

PhD International Relations and Diplomacy - FAQs

  1. University Matriculation of 5 credit passes including English, Mathematics & two other relevant science subjects at O-Level; and
  2. Approved Bachelor’s degree with at least 2nd class lower division.
  3. Academic Master’s degree in relevant areas with a CGPA of 3.5/5.0 and with thesis score not lower than 60% (B); and
  4. Candidates must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity, maturity and effective decision making and problem-solving potentials.

Students who successfully complete the programme can embark on an academic career. Doctoral graduates can also go into careers in consultancy, education and teaching, NGOs and charities, international organisations and to roles within the public sector and government.

The students will be taught using the following methods: Lectures, seminars, group work, tutorial and presentations.
