Biography

Professor Steve A. Adeshina is a distinguished academic in the Faculty of Engineering at Nile University of Nigeria, where he also serves as the General Manager of Nile Consult & Services Limited. This business consulting subsidiary of the university offers comprehensive consulting, training (including bespoke short professional courses), and specialized services across various sectors of the economy.

Professor Adeshina earned his B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and a Ph.D. in Computer Vision and Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK, in 2010. After a successful career in computing within both the private and public sectors in Nigeria, he joined Nile University in 2011. Over the years, he has held several key academic and administrative positions, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration (2014-2020).

His research focuses on the application of Computer Vision and Deep Learning techniques to the analysis of medical and biological images and data. He has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed conferences and journals, with a particular interest in using these techniques for automated cancer detection and diagnosis. Additionally, Professor Adeshina is interested in the use of electronic voting systems to promote good governance, and he has published significant work in this area.

Professor Adeshina is a member of several national and international professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (MACM), the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), the Nigerian Computer Society (MNCS), and he is a registered engineer with COREN and a certified professional with MCPN, among others.
