Biography

Professor Steve A. Adeshina is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. He is also a Professor of Computer Vision and Engineering at the Department of Computer Engineering.

He graduated with a B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria and a PhD in Computer Vision and Engineering from the University of Manchester, Manchester, UK in 2010.

After a very successful Computing career in the private and public sectors in Nigeria, he joined Nile University of Nigeria in 2011, where he has served in several academic and administrative positions including Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration (2014 -2020). He is currently serving as the Dean, Faculty of Engineering.

His research interest is in using Computer Vision and Deep Learning techniques in analyzing medical and biological images and data. He has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed conferences and Journals. His current interest is in using the same Computer Vision techniques in automated cancer detection and diagnosis. Additionally, Prof. Adeshina has research interests in using electronic voting in engendering good governance. He has published some high impact works in this regard.

Prof. Adeshina is a member of several national and international professional organizations including MIEEE, MACM, MNSE, MNCS, Regd. COREN, MCPN, amongst others.
