Nile University Partners NCC Parastatal, Provides Cutting-Edge Digital Literacy Training to Staff

The management of Nile University of Nigeria (NUN) in partnership with Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), a digital training arm of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), organized a 5-day workshop on Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI), for the faculty and support staff of the University.

The workshop which was primarily designed to improve the participants’ knowledge of two digital courses namely; Data Analysis using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) as well as Internet and Office Productivity Tools (IOPT), also aims to provide the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff with 21st-century skills required to drive the Education for Impact goals and comprehensive, mandatory work-readiness programmes. This exercise aligns with the pillars and standards of Honoris United Universities Network, the first, and largest Pan-African private higher education network, the umbrella body of the Nile University of Nigeria.

The collaborative Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI),  drew in attendance, experts from the University as well as leadership of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) and over 110 registered Participants.

Speaking at the launch of the event, Vice Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria (NUN), Professor Dilli Dogo, praised the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) for launching the ADAPTI programme and opting to provide the teaching and non-teaching staff with digital skills needed in the University environment at this period of emerging Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

The President/CEO of Digital Bridge Institute, Prof. Mohammed Ajiya, in his address said more than 100,000 people working in tertiary institutions across the country had been digitally upskilled thanks to the ADAPTI training. The trainees, he said, would make good representatives of DBI if they took the time to use the information they had learned in their workplace. He expressed his gratitude to the University administration for providing the support needed for the success of the training programme.

At the end of the training, the participants expressed their gratitude to the instructors, including Mr. Chukwuemeka Nzeih (DBI Co-ordinator), Dr. Rauf Ibrahim, Prof. Ebere Amali, the Dean of the Postgraduate School, Prof. May Nwoye of the Business Management Department, Dr. Titilola of the Community Medicine (CMS), Mr. Otor from the Department of Mass Communication, and Assoc. Prof. M. Mambo from the Department of Engineering.
