Nile University Delegation Pays Courtesy Visit to NITDA DG

A two-man delegation from Nile University of Nigeria comprising Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Aras (VC) and Prof. Moussa Mahamat Boukar (Dean, Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences) visited the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, on March 4. During the visit, Prof. Aras thanked the DG for the continued support he has provided to Nile University, especially through the agency’s postgraduate scholarship scheme. He further assured the DG on Nile University’s commitment to ensuring that its postgraduate students are equipped with the necessary IT skills to bridge Nigeria’s digital divide and, consequently, boost the country’s global competitiveness.

Responding to the VC’s remarks, Mr. Abdullahi reiterated NITDA’s commitment to sponsoring capable students who wish to further their studies, especially in IT-related fields. He also stated the need for Nigerian students as well as organizations that provide academic scholarships to explore the options at home before deciding to study abroad as there are several Nigerian universities that can provide the same quality of education as their coveted foreign counterparts. In this regard, he continued, a collaboration with Nile University can go a long way in equipping the country’s youths with the relevant skills to accelerate Nigeria’s journey to digital transformation.
