Nile University of Nigeria hosted the 15th edition of the International Conference on Electronics Computer and Computation (ICECCO). The three-day program, which lasted from December 10-12, was aimed at bringing together researchers and developers from various electronics and computing areas, as well as developers and practitioners to explore and address the challenging research issues on e-technology toward developing a common research agenda and vision for electronics and computer sciences.

In light of this, the conference was packed with interesting and educative presentations from notable individuals like Mr. Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi (DG, NITDA), Mr. Raphael Onoshakpor (Chair, IEEE Nigeria Section), Prof. Eric T. Matson (Purdue University, USA), to name a few.

The program’s objective was, perhaps, best encapsulated in the Chief Host Speech delivered by Mr. Abdullahi in the opening ceremony of the event. According to the DG, one major way of tackling the problems facing e-technology in the country is by bridging the gap between academia and the industry. Specifically, Mr. Abdullahi advocated a system whereby University students with research projects containing innovative ideas can be supported and empowered by the relevant authorities to translate these projects into real, potentially disruptive inventions.

The DG’s speech set the tone for the rest of the conference, which featured exciting paper presentations on topics such as “Building Self-organizing Counter UAV Systems with HARMS Integration Model” (by Prof. Eric T. Matson), “5G Key Enabling Technologies: Millimeter-Wave Bands and Fog Radio Access Networks” (by Prof. Okechukwu Ugweje), to name a few.
