Delegation from Civil Engineering Department Pays Courtesy Visit to the National Chairman of NICE

A team from Nile University of Nigeria’s Department of Civil Engineering paid a courtesy call to the National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineering (NICE), Engr. Mrs. Aishatu Aliyu Umar, FNSE on November 6. The delegation comprised Assoc. Prof. Abdulhameed Mambo (HOD), Dr. Kulmedov (Lecturer), Dr. Akeem (Lecturer), Engr. Dayyabu (Lecturer), Miss Phoebe (Current President, NICE Nile Chapter), and Mr. Musa Kolo (Ex-President, NICE Nile Chapter), among others.

Addressing the National Chairman, following the exchange of pleasantries, Assoc. Prof. Mambo congratulated her for the successful completion of the NICE National conference in Maiduguri. He also thanked Engr. Mrs. Umar, FNSE for granting a full scholarship to the 2019 best graduating student of Nile University’s Civil Engineering department, Miss Fatima Gaji, to pursue a Master’s Degree in Engineering at Nile University’s School of Postgraduate Studies. Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Mambo proposed a research collaboration between Nile University and NICE, while asking the chairman to encourage NICE members across the country to take advantage of Nile University’s attractive Postgraduate discounts to further their education at the University. Finally, Assoc. Prof. Mambo proposed that the NICE induct all graduating students of Nile University’s Civil Engineering Department into graduate membership of the institute.

Responding to Assoc. Prof. Mambo’s remarks, Mrs. Umar, FNSE expressed her excitement at the Nile University team’s visit and promised to take the HOD’s proposals under advisement. The visit concluded with the exchange of gifts between the Nile University delegation and the Chairman.
