ACAA Certifies Nile University For Championing Recycle 4 Education (R4E) Drive

Shortly after the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) designated the Nile University of Nigeria as one of the starting points for its Recycle for Education Drive in June 2022, the university management spared no effort to ensure that a recycling policy was fully implemented and enforced in  the campus.

To achieve this, the University took a number of steps including the mobilization of a campus-wide waste recycling awareness campaign for its campus community (staff and students), the encouragement of the use of all designated waste bins, and the engagement of the school’s janitorial units in more than eight waste management drop-off trips at two recycling locations.

Over the course of the four-month-long Recycle for Education exercise, which ended on September 16th, over 1936 kilograms of plastic waste, 1313 kilograms of cardboard, and over 400 kilograms of metals from the school were recycled.

The exercise has made a big difference in how the campus community dispose off waste and further improved its cleanliness and hygiene. This was confirmed by the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) and the International University Sports Federation (FISU), when they declared Nile University the “model of a healthy Nigerian campus” after the institution hosted the 2022 International Day of University Sports.
