Nile University’s Tech-students Win Prestigious Technology Innovation Competition

November 22, 2022– A team of Science and Engineering students from Nile University of Nigeria (Team Interna), emerged winners of the 6th edition of Nigeria’s largest annual science and technology-centered innovation challenge; the Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition (PAADC).

After pitching their ideas to a panel of top industry professionals and judges at the grand finale in the University of Lagos, Nile University’s Team Interna came out tops, beating four other finalists– Team Helgg, Team EnactCare, Team Foosion and Team Protronics– to the grand prize of N2 million.

The Nile University team’s project, “INTERNA,” is an easy-to-use social platform where students can find internship opportunities and connect with peers who are interns and discuss their experiences. To facilitate this, the platform has a list of companies with internship vacancies, a personalized CV generator based on users’ profile, and an interview prep section to effectively prepare students for interviews.

Nile University’s Team Interna comprised Hanif Adedotun (Computer Engineering, 400L), Tamunokorite Victor Briggs (Software Engineering, 400L), Usiere David Utibe-Enobong (Software Engineering, 400L), Fortune Oluwasemilore Alebiosu (Computer Science, 400L), and Iguza Steven Oshoke (Civil Engineering, 400L).

The PAADC 6.0 which was themed “Innovation Beyond Imagination,” had over 250 entries from more than 30 tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition is an annual innovation competition for undergraduates in Nigeria. It was established by the University of Lagos Engineering Society in 2017 to promote, encourage, and celebrate ingenuity, creativity, and indigenous solutions by undergraduates to problems plaguing Nigeria.
