Nile Spartans Lauded as True Ambassadors of Nigeria, the University Education System

The basketball team of Nile University who emerged as National Champions of the Red Bull Half-Court competition in Nigeria were hailed and described as true ambassadors of Nigeria and the University education system in the country.

Nile Spartans received this commendation on their return to Abuja when they visited the Vice Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria, Prof. Dilli Dogo, to present him with the tournament’s championship trophy and a ticket for Nigeria’s team to compete in the World Half-Court Finals in Egypt on September 30 and October 1.

While welcoming the Spartans, the VC pledged that the University would continue to support the team because their achievements continued to put the school on the right pedestal. He added that “the projection of the University to the younger generation starts with sporting teams like the Spartans” and urged the team to view their victory as a triumph for the Nile University and Honoris family rather than a personal victory.

Prof. Dogo expressed confidence that the Spartans will once again perform admirably in Egypt, and will do the University and Nigeria proud. He promised that as management, the school will continue to encourage sports, support, and work with every group including the government wishing to propel the dreams of Nile University and the Honoris United Universities network.

The VC added that the Spartans’ victory at the National Red Bull championship did not come as a surprise to him owing to the team’s track record of winning titles, which is a reflection of Nile University’s commitment to promoting excellence and professionalism for better transformation.

Similarly, Sports commentators on social media praised the Nile Spartans for their impressive performance at the National Half-Court finals in Lagos, commending the team’s dexterity, competence, determination, and passion all of which contributed to their emergence as National Champions. The Sports experts hailed Nile University as “the new model of University Education in Nigeria.”

Following a string of victories at major tournaments, including the championship title at the 26th Nigerian Universities Games (NUGA), the Nile Spartans have maintained a dominant position in the Nigerian Basketball League.
