Nile University’s Mass Communication Lecturer Gets Published in World-renowned Journal

We are pleased to announce that our Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Elega Adeola, successfully published an article entitled “Charting the Progression of a Journalism Subarea: A Meta-Analysis of Peace Journalism Scholarship” in the prestigious International Journal of Communication (IJOC) (

The IJOC is a world-renowned SSCI- SCOPUS (Q1) indexed journal that is ranked 4th in Arts and Humanities (see full ranking: and 7th in Communication and Media Studies globally (see full ranking: Its reputation as one of the most difficult journals to get published in makes Dr. Elega’s achievement even more impressive. Dr. Elega’s feat is the latest illustration of Nile University’s commitment to constantly engaging and developing a talented and experienced faculty who possess the requisite skills to facilitate the production of world-class African human talent with an entrepreneurial mindset and 21st-century skills to thrive in the globally disrupted world of work.

Dr. Elega’s work was co-authored by Assoc. Prof. Metin Ersoy, General Secretary of the European Peace Research Association (EuPRA), one of the early proponents of peace journalism implementation in the media especially with regard to the Cyprus conflict. Other co-authors include Dr. Engin Aluc of Cyprus International University and Dr. Omar Abu Arquob of Arab American University, Ramallah-Palestine. Dr. Elega’s paper is the first compendium study to explore the progression of the 50-year-old journalism sub-field.
