Officials of the African Aviation & Aerospace University (AAAU) led a delegation on March 26, to the Vice Chancellor of Nile University, Prof. Dilli Dogo to discuss the Federal Government’s plan to build a University that will offer strong aerospace degree programmes in the country.
The purpose of their visit, according to Captain Gabriel Tilmann (Consultant/Transaction Adviser, AAAU), was to specifically negotiate a partnership with Nile University concerning curriculum development for the recently approved degree awarding aviation institution. According to him, the newly established AAAU wants to equip students with the knowledge and abilities needed to advance civil aviation in Nigeria and beyond Africa.
Welcoming the delegation, the Vice Chancellor of Nile University Prof. Dilli Dogo, provided a brief overview of Nile University, highlighting its recent acquisition by Honoris United Universities, the first and largest pan-African network of private higher education institutions, as well as its mission to provide students with crucial 21st-century skills.
Prof. Dogo highlighted Nile University’s eagerness to collaborate with AAAU and emphasized that, should it materialize, this proposed partnership will have major advantages for both institutions as well as the continent’s civil aviation and aerospace industry. He requested that the AAAU representatives make a written proposal to Nile University stating their intents and expectations for the proposed collaboration so that the University Management could effectively consider and select the next steps. The AAAU team promised to submit the proposal at a later date.
Others from Nile University who attended the meeting included the Registrar, Mr. David Olowola, and the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Saleh El-Yakub Abdullahi. Mustapha Junaidu, TA (PPP) HM Aviation, and Dr. Mansur Matazu, DG, NIMET, made up the final two members of the AAAU Three-man delegation.
