Biography

Saleh El-Yakub Abdullahi is a Professor of Computer Science with over 23 years post-qualification teaching and research experience and 19 years Telecommunication industry experience. He obtained his B.Sc. in Computer Science from Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa College under Ahmadu Bello University in 1987, M.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Lagos and PhD in Computer Science from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London in 1996. He has worked in the IT departments of defunct Nigerian Telecommunication (NITEL) Plc and defunct Nigerian Mobile Telecommunication (MTEL) Ltd from 1996 to 2015 when he retired as the last Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of MTEL Ltd. He started his academic career with Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa University in 1988 as a graduate assistant. He was a lecturer at Lefke University in Cyprus 1994-95, visiting Senior Lecturer/Reader at Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna from 2009 to 2018 and visiting Senior Lecturer/Professor at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 2008 to 2020.

Professor Abdullahi has been with Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja since 2011 first as a visiting Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor before taking full-time appointment in 2015. He was HoD Computer Science Department from August to October 2015 and Director of Academic Planning (DAP) from November 2015 to 2023. As the DAP, he successfully coordinated the establishment of sixty-five (65) new academic programmes and the accreditation of forty-nine (49) academic programmes at Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja.

His research areas include Operating Systems, Programming Languages and Software Engineering. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in international and national journals, supervised 4 PhD, 40 M.Sc. and several B.Sc. projects in Computer Science. He has two (2) book chapters on Computer Science to complement his academic credentials.
