Biography

Born in Marama town of Borno state in 1959, Professor Dilli Dogo graduated from the University of Maiduguri in 1984 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Distinction in Medicine and Physiology. After his Housemanship and National Youth Service, he had automatic employment as Medical Research Fellow by the same University and was sponsored for postgraduate studies in Surgery.

Professor Dogo is now a celebrated Professor of Surgery and Consultant Surgeon who has positively impacted humanity and society. He is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, the West African College of Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the International College of Surgeons among many others. He is a foundation Fellow of the Nigeria Academy of Medicine (FNAMed) and a member of the Board of Trustees.

Professor Dilli Dogo rose through the ranks from Medical Research Fellow I to Professor of Surgery where he served the University in various capacities. He was Head of the Department for a long time and was Provost of the College of Medical Sciences of the University of Maiduguri in 2011. Professor Dilli Dogo also served on many management committees and was a member of the Governing Council of the University of Maiduguri from 2012-2015. He was the Endowment’s coordinator and Director of Public-Private Partnerships at the University.

He was also a member of the Management Board of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for two consecutive Board sessions. He studied Laparoscopic Surgery at the University of Strasburg in France and Endoscopic urology at the University of Klinicum, Germany. Dogo was one time Chairman, of the Nigerian Association of Colleges of Medicine and Medical Sciences (NACOM) now APCOM, and at various times served on many committees of Borno State and the Nigerian Government including the Nigerian National Merit Award. He was also chairman, Faculty of Surgery and a member of Governing Board of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.

Professor Dilli Dogo was appointed as Honourable Special Adviser to Borno State Government on Health Matters between 2011 and 2019. He also served as Chairman, Faculty of Surgery National Postgraduate Medica College of Nigeria, and member of the Governing Board of the College.

Professor Dilli Dogo has been active in the accreditation of Medicine and Surgery for the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and the National Universities Commission both locally and internationally and was a regular member of the Examination Board for Foreign Medical graduates.

He was requested to join Nile University to assist in developing the College of Medical Sciences and within a short time made the College one of the best in Nigeria.

He has published so many articles in peer-reviewed journals Nationally and Internationally.

He is married and has 5 children. He is also Philanthropist
