  • To develop in students the ability to apply knowledge and skills to solving theoretical and practical problems in microbiology
  • To develop in students, a range of transferable skills that are of value in microbiological and biochemical employment
  • To provide students with knowledge and skills base from which they can proceed to further studies in specialized areas of biology or multi-disciplinary areas involving biochemistry

The curriculum is underpinned by research, linking your learning to the work of the faculty, from the laboratory bench to new drugs to public health interventions. With less emphasis on traditional lectures, problem-based learning in small groups encourages you to take an independent approach to clinical scenarios.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements for this course are normally:


* Must have at least 5 O’level credits, including English, in no more than 2 sittings.

  • UTME SUBJECTS: Chemistry, Biology and any other Science subject
  • O’LEVEL SUBJECTS: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any other Science subject

How will I be taught?

The course is going to be taught majorly by lectures through presentation and the use of other teaching aids.  Laboratory sections will be scheduled where applicable.

Fees and Finance

In 2019/20 the full-time tuition fee undergraduate students on this course will be N5,750,000 (this is the total fee for the programme).
