Professor Salome Konkat Kigbu is a distinguished Professor of Human Trafficking Law at the Faculty of Law, Nile University of Nigeria. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Jos, obtained in 2014, and was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2001.
Throughout her academic career, Professor Kigbu has taught a wide range of courses, including Immigration and Refugee Law, Medical Law, Legal Research and Methodology, Legal Method, Environmental Law, Law of Banking and Insurance, and Family Law. She has served in several leadership roles, including two terms as Head of the Private Law Department at the University of Jos (2014-2016, 2021-2022), Deputy Dean (Humanities) at the School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Jos (2016-2018), and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law at Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State (2017-2019). Currently, she is the Postgraduate Coordinator at the Faculty of Law, Nile University of Nigeria.
Professor Kigbu has actively participated in and presented papers at numerous national and international conferences, including the Sixth International Human Rights Education Conference in Middelburg, Netherlands (2015), and the Community Rights and Expectations in Natural Resources Development conference at the Center for Energy Production Mineral Law Policy, University of Dundee (2016). She is a member of several professional legal associations, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the International Federation for Women Lawyers, and the National Association of Law Teachers.
Her research and professional interests focus on the promotion and protection of women and children’s rights. She has successfully supervised two Ph.D. candidates and continues to contribute to the legal field with her expertise and passion. Professor Kigbu is happily married to Hon. (Dr.) Joseph H. Kigbu, and they are blessed with children.
