Biography

Professor Christopher Nkiko is the University Librarian at Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, and previously served as the University Librarian at Elizade University. Prior to this, he held the same position at Samuel Adegboyega University and completed a successful two-term tenure as University Librarian at Covenant University.

Professor Nkiko holds a B.Sc. in Political Science from the University of Benin, an M.Sc. in Political Science, an MLS, and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Ibadan. His academic excellence has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Chief Oduaran Memorial Prize for the best student in Political Science and the Chief Anthony Enahoro’s Prize for being the overall best student in Nigerian Government and Politics at the University of Benin, as well as the NYSC Kano State Award for exemplary character and hard work.

In his professional career, Professor Nkiko has made significant contributions to the field of librarianship and information science. He has published extensively in both local and international journals, including those indexed by SCOPUS, and serves on the editorial boards of several reputable journals. His research interests cover a wide range of topics, including intellectual property, library and emerging technologies, library services for the visually impaired, information literacy, scholarly communication, bibliotherapy, bibliometrics, records management, information studies, and libraries in cyberspace.

Professor Nkiko has also had the opportunity to benchmark libraries in the United Kingdom and the United States, visiting institutions such as the British Library, Lancaster University Library, Birmingham City University Library, University of Sussex, Fayetteville State University Library, North Carolina State University Library, and Calvin College Library, among others. He is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) in the UK, a member of the Nigerian Library Association, the Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities, and is a Certified Librarian (CLN) registered with the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria. He also served as Chairman of NULIB from 2020 to 2022.
