Research Works of Two Nile University Lecturers Published in High Impact Journals

The faculty members of the Nile University of Nigeria (NUN) have been relentless in contributing to the existing body of knowledge and establishing landmark achievements in their pursuit of excellence and professionalism.

Recently, the academic works of Engr. Dr. Bukola Babatunde Adetokun and Mr. Paul T. Iorember of the institution gained traction with their publications in high-impact academic journals. The research work of Dr. Adetokun, a lecturer with the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department of Nile University was published in the Journal of Energy, with a Citation Score of 8.4 and Impact Factor of 8.907, the journal is ranked 87th percentile in the first quarter (Q1) among journals in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

Dr. Adetokun’s research work titled “Superconducting magnetic energy storage systems: Prospects and challenges for renewable energy applications” gave a comprehensive review of the use of superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) systems for renewable energy. It was carried out in collaboration with Dr. Oghenewvogaga Oghorada, a Senior Lecturer and colleague of the same Department, as well as Mr. Sufyan Ja’afar Abubakar, a recent graduate of the department.

Last December, Dr. Adetokun also got published in Springer Nature’s Scientific Reports with a 91st percentile ranking. The article investigated the applications of large-scale solar photovoltaic systems for voltage stability improvement of weak national grids, with the Nigerian power grid used as a case study. This article was written in collaboration with Professors from the United States and the Republic of Kenya.

Similarly, two research works of Mr. Paul T. Iorember, a lecturer with Nile University’s Department of Economics, were published in top-ranked journals of Economics. Paul’s articles were published in Sustainability a Scopus & Web of Science Q1 journal on MDPI) as well as the Economic Notes  a Scopus Q2 journal on Wiley Online Library.

This academic feat according to the Research and Innovations Unit of Nile University of Nigeria under the Honoris United Universities Network, is highly commendable because it aligns with the University’s mission and emphasis on conducting high-quality research.
