It provides a pathway for students without strong background in EEE at the undergraduate level, and for Bachelor of Engineering Technology graduates who wish to progress to Master of Engineering studies.

Upon completion of the Postgraduate Diploma program, students may have the opportunity of proceeding to a Master’s program depending on performance at the PGD level.

Our diploma program is particularly well suited to those who have already embarked upon their professional career, and are looking to gain deeper insight into a specialized area in their field.


Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the Postgraduate Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) are geared at:

  • Developing the student knowledge and skills in electrical and electronics engineering that will enhance the student’s career prospects in the relevant industries including power transmission and distribution, telecommunications, and electronics industry.
  • Facilitating learning of electrical and electronics engineering concepts and applications that are directly linked to industry needs and relevant government parastatals.
  • Providing a pathway for graduates from other engineering programs and appropriate and relevant science degrees to articulate into electrical and electronics engineering

Additional Information

Entry Requirements

The following may qualify for admission into the PGD program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering:

  1. University Matriculation of 5 credit passes including English, Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry at O-Level; and
  2. Approved Bachelor’s Degrees with at least 3rd class division in a relevant engineering or Science discipline; or;
  3. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) with at least upper credit;
  4. Holders of the HND at lower credit with a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification relevant experience may also be considered.

How will I be taught?

We aim to develop your knowledge, understanding, analysis and design abilities principally through lectures and tutorials. You’ll be supported in developing your practical and design skills through laboratory work involving problem solving assignments, practical exercises and mini projects.

Career support

Graduates can work in a variety of roles such as lead electrical engineer, senior electronic engineer, senior metrology engineer, applications design engineer and control, electrical and instrumentation graduate design engineer in organisations including.

Further Study

Students can progress to the MSc Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Fees and Finance

In 2019/20 the full-time tuition fee postgraduate students on this course will be N1,100,000 (this is the total fee for the programme).
