Nile University’s School of Preliminary Studies Sets National Record With the Best JUPEB Graduate

Unity Chilam Dimkpa, 19, couldn’t have had a better opportunity than to enroll in Nile University’s School of Preliminary Studies (SPS), which prepared him for the Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB). After receiving a Grade Total Point of 16 and placing first in the nationwide examinations, his hopes of studying his preferred course at his university of choice came true, and he was given more than he could have imagined. He is currently a proud 200-level student of medicine in Nile University of Nigeria.

Instead of risking another year at home, he defied the odds by enrolling in the second intake and despite getting a late start on the semester, he made history by earning 16/15, the best grade point total ever achieved by a JUPEB student nationwide.

“Given my options at the time, choosing to enroll in Nile University’s School of Preliminary Studies (SPS) programme was the best choice I’ve ever made, and the one-year duration of the programme was well worth it.” He stated.

Unity felt a sense of accomplishment when the Registrar of  Nile University of Nigeria, Mr. David Olowola, called his parents and other family members to inform them of this historic national achievement. “My family members were considerably happier than I was; it seemed as though they had taken the exams themselves, and to celebrate this accomplishment, my Dad had to take us out for a special treat. It was a rewarding and fulfilling experience both at home and in school.”

For students seeking admission through Direct Entry (DE) into any university, Nile University’s School of Preliminary Studies (SPS), offers the Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) and a blend of Foreign A-level curriculums for an intensive 1-year full-time programme.

During this 12-month term, SPS students of Nile University of Nigeria are exposed to a wide range of skills and subject knowledge related to the course they want to study in the university. Students who meet the requirements earn direct entry admission to 200 Level programme at Nile University or any other university of their choice in Nigeria or abroad (particularly the UK).
