Nile University’s Mechanical Engineering HoD Honoured By Italian-Based World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), based in Trieste Italy has commemorated with the Nile University scholar and Head of Department (HOD) of  Mechanical Engineering, Engr. Dr. Adeleke Adekunle for an exceptional young career spanning six years, he was awarded a predoctoral scholarship in the Council of Scientific Industrial Research CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, India.

In an interview posted on the organization’s website and LinkedIn page, the Academy recognized and praised two research projects by Dr. Adekunle that are ready to be patented. The first was the design of a mini ablative reactor for the pyrolysis of biomass into dual energy products and the production of printing ink from renewable sources and organic vanish.

The goal of the research is to use a Turnel kiln to make direct reduced iron from iron ore and lean-grade coal. During the interview, Dr. Adeleke talked about how his research could help boost the steel industry in Nigeria.
