A Nile University team led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Osman Nuri Aras, hosted a delegation from the Nigerian Institution of Power Engineers (NIPE) for the official signing of a memorandum of understanding between both organizations. Delivering the opening remark of the event following the introduction of the representatives of both organizations, Prof. Aras expressed his delight at both organizations’ willingness to advance their relationship through the MoU.
According to him, one of the major aims for the establishment of Nile University of Nigeria is the development of Nigeria’s human capital. To achieve this objective, he continued, the University seeks to partner with both private and public institutions, combining the latter’s expertise with its own to produce graduates that are ready to contribute to the industry. In light of this, Prof. Aras stated, the MoU is another major step in Nile University’s quest to develop the country’s human capital. The VC however emphasized the need for both organizations to make conscious effort to ensure that the MoU does not end up becoming a mere “paper agreement” and is, rather, one that yields tangible results.
Responding to the VC’s remarks, Engr. Abraham Israel (Chairman, NIPE) commended Nile University for its dedication to bridging the gap between academia and the industry as evidenced by its willingness to become the first university to partner with NIPE at this level. Furthermore, he expressed his optimism about the MoU’s potential to contribute to the production of graduates that are ready to contribute to the Power Engineering industry from the outset.
The event concluded with the official signing of the MoU by Prof. Aras and Engr. Israel.
