The Vice-Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria, Prof. Osman Aras, and the National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), Engr. Aisha Aliyu Umar, signed an MoU between both organizations on February 28. The partnership agreement was aimed at facilitating knowledge sharing between both institutions to boost the production of industry-ready Engineering graduates.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Aras stated that NUN cannot achieve its goal of contributing to Nigeria’s human capital development through the provision of high-quality education alone due to its limited resources. To attain this objective, it needs the help of other reputable public and private organizations. Thus, by partnering with NICE, Prof. Aras stated, NUN was taking another significant step toward achieving its goal of contributing to the country’s human capital development.
Reacting to the VC’s remarks, Engr. Umar expressed her happiness about the collaboration, stating that this MoU will propel NUN and NICE to the next level in terms of bridging the gap between academics and the industry.
Other individuals present at the event included Prof. Steve Adeshina (DVC Admin; Dean, Faculty of Engineering, NUN), Prof. Abdurrahman Isik (DVC Academics, NUN), Dr. Petrus Nzerem (HOD, Petroleum & Gas Engineering, NUN), Assoc. Prof. Abdulhameed Mambo (HOD, Civil Engineering, NUN), Prof. Ibrahim Keles (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, NUN), among others.
