NUN Discusses Collaboration with Dakota Wesleyan University, USA

A delegation from Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU), USA, led by Prof. John Ifediora and Miss Ngozi Ukachukwu, visited Nile University of Nigeria on February 25. Receiving the visitors were Prof. Nurettin Can (DVC, RICOR), Prof Alpaslan Toker (HOD, English Studies Department; Director, International Relations), Prof. Ibrahim Keles (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences; Director, Corporate Relations), Assoc. Prof. Kenan Kapukaya (Director of Distance Learning, Director of Public Relations Department). 

Following the introductions and exchange of pleasantries by both parties, Prof. Ifediora stated the purpose of the DWU team’s visit, which was to formally invite NUN to the former’s first annual national conference on “The State of Higher Education in Nigeria.” The program, according to Prof. Ifediora, is aimed at exploring the ways in which the Nigerian university system can prepare students for the challenges of 21st century job market. The conference, which is organized by DWU in partnership with the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), is set to hold on March 12 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja. 

Furthermore, Prof. Ifediora expressed the willingness of the Dakota Wesleyan University to explore collaboration opportunities with Nile University of Nigeria. In response, Prof. Can stated NUN’s openness to collaboration talks, especially in areas of student exchange programs, distance learning, among others. The meeting ended with an agreement by both parties to take the partnership proposals to their respective organizations’ management.
