Nile University of Nigeria Signs an MoU with Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution

On March 18, Nile University of Nigeria and the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) entered into a strategic partnership to facilitate capacity development. 

Speaking at the event the Nile University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Osman Nuri Aras, stated that the MoU will enable both organizations not only improve their already good relationship but also pool their resources together to contribute solutions to some of the country’s problems. Responding to the VC, the Director General of IPCR, Bakut T. Bakut PhD, commended Nile University for its efforts to “bring theory into practice” by collaborating with various public and private organizations.

He further pledged his (and IPCR’s) support to Nile University in the University’s quest to combine its theoretical knowledge with industry expertise (from its corporate partners) to produce industry-ready graduates. Subsequently, the Head of IPCR’s Legal Unit, Barr. (Mrs.) Mabel Jacob, expressed her happiness about the MoU, which she termed a collaboration between two organizations that share similar values. According to her, the partnership between NUN and IPCR can contribute significantly to the consolidation of democracy and promotion of peace in Nigeria and beyond. 

The event concluded with the official signing of the MoU by Prof. Aras and Bakut T. Bakut PhD.

Other officials that were present at the event include Assoc. Prof. Gylych Jelilov (Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences), Prof. Ibrahim Keles (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences), Prof. Ahmet Arabaci (HOD, Political Science & International Relations), Dr. Joseph Ochogwu (Head, Directorate of Research and Policy Analysis, IPCR), Mr. Mang Chaimang (PA to DG, IPCR), to name a few.
