Nile University of Nigeria Provides Full Sports Scholarships to 19 Students

As part of Nile University of Nigeria’s efforts in promoting excellence at all levels and ensuring that students “actualize their dreams,” the Management of the University granted the Sport Unit (of the Student Affairs Department) 25 Full Sports Scholarship slots to be awarded to deserving student athletes in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 academic sessions.

So far, 19 of the 25 slots have been awarded to students participating in different categories of sports, including Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Basketball, Swimming, Football, and Volleyball.

The current beneficiaries of the scholarship have performed excellently in the numerous competitions they have participated in since joining Nile University. For instance, at the 2018 West Africa University Games, which held in Port-Harcourt, Nile University’s sole representative (a student on sports scholarship) in the swimming competition won a whopping 12 medals (1 Gold, 8 Silver, and 3 Bronze). Also, the University’s volleyball team (comprising a number of beneficiaries of the scholarship) and table tennis representative (also a student on sports scholarship) won Gold and Bronze medals respectively at the Games.

Add to that the 8 medals (5 Gold, 1 Silver, 3 Bronze) won by the University’s female swimmers (who are all beneficiaries of the sports scholarship) at the recently concluded 8th Annual Chief of Naval Staff Championship and it is evident that Nile University of Nigeria offers a very conducive environment for student athletes to fulfill their potential.
