Nile University Hosts Delegation from the Organization of Military Sports in Africa

Nile University of Nigeria hosted a delegation from the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) on March 10, 2021. The team from OSMA, which was led by Brig. Gen. Maikano Abdullahi (President, OSMA), included Commodore M.A Wabi (Deputy Director of Defense and Media Advisor to OSMA President), Gp. Capt. M. Abanum (Director of Sports, HQ NAF), Col. O.C. Okonwo, Lt. Cdr. A. Umari (Sports Officer, Nigerian Navy), Sqr. Leader A. Mohammed (Assistant Director, Sports HONAP), Lt. Fc. Fapetus (Sports Officer, DHQ).

Receiving the visitors was a team from Nile University including Prof. Osman Nuri Aras (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. Abdurrahman Isik (Deputy Vice-Chancellor), Mr. Yasar Aktekin (Registrar), Dr. Sadiq Thomas (HoD, Computer Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Gylych Jelilov (Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences), Prof. Ben. Akanegbu (Dean, Management Sciences), Assoc. Prof. Abdulhameed Mambo (HoD, Civil Engineering), and Mr. Murat Akyildiz (Chief Student Services Officer).

During the meeting both parties explored collaboration opportunities in the area of sports. This was echoed in the speech by Brig. Gen. Abdullahi who stated that the main aim of OSMA is to create friendships through sports as illustrated by the 51 countries and 136 states that are currently official members of the organization. He expressed OSMA’s desire to add Nile University to its already robust list of partners and sponsors.

According to Brig. Gen. Abdullahi, by partnering with OSMA and leveraging its popularity, Nile University will further increase its brand awareness and further its goal of contributing the country’s human capital development through education. 

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from the Nile University Vice-Chancellor and a presentation of gifts to the guests.
