Nile Economics Seminar Series: An Insight Conversation And Discussion On International Trade

On 5th May 2021, Nile University Economics Department held a virtual seminar as a part of the Nile Economics Seminar Series on “International Trade: An Insight Conversation & Discussion”, present at the event was Assoc. Prof. Gylych Jelilov (Dean of Faculty of Art and Social Sciences, Nile University), Dr. Nargiza Alymkulova (HOD Economics Department) and the guest speaker a person of Mr. Halit Ozkan YUKSEL (International Trader, Singapore).

The seminar began with the presentation of Mr. Halit Ozkan. He presented insights into his activities as an international trader by sharing cross-country experience on commodity markets along with countries as Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, India, China, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Singapore. The presenter further discussed how the Covid-19 crisis-affected markets and countries` economies. Mr. YUKSEL underlined that commitments are the most relevant and vital in his field.

Lastly, the seminar was concluded by a discussion section where participants had the opportunity to ask questions on international trade-related issues including the impact of international trade policies, volatility of exchange rates, derivatives, and other macroeconomic factors on export and imports. The seminar ended with an interactive session.

Other special guests at the seminar included Mr. Emomotimi AGAMA (Head, Registration, Exchanges, Market Infrastructure and Innovation Department at Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria), Prof. Ebele Amali (Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies), Prof. Ganiyat Uthman (Vice-dean of FASS), Dr. Ahmed Adamu (Senior Lecturer, Economics Department), among other distinguished Professors and academics.
