Delegation from Nile University Visits Digital Bridge Institute

A Nile University team from the Faculty of Engineering paid a visit to the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Utako, on April 29, 2021. The delegation comprised Prof Steve Adeshina (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Dr. Sadiq Thomas (HOD Computer Engineering), and Dr.  Omotayo Oshiga (HOD Electrical Engineering). Receiving the Nile delegation was a DBI team led by the organization’s President/CEO, Prof. Mohammed Ajiya.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the establishment of a partnership between the Digital Bridge Institute and the Nile University of Nigeria towards the upcoming 1st ICMEAS Conference jointly hosted by the University’s Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences. During the meeting, through the Faculty of Engineering, the university requested the support of DBI—both in terms of funds and personnel— towards the success of the conference. The president, Prof. Ajiya, promised the Institute’s support in this regard. Both parties also discussed postgraduate degree collaborations— specifically, a partnership to facilitate the establishment of a Master of Science in Telecommunication, Telecommunication Management, and Administration. According to Prof. Ajiya, such a partnership would be similar to those between DBI and other Nigerian universities like the University of Ibadan and the University of Nigeria.

Other collaboration opportunities in areas such as discounts for DBI staff to study at Nile University, internship/SIWES placement for Nile’s students at DBI training centers across the federation, lecturer exchange opportunities, among others were addressed during the meeting. The Dean informed the President of Nile University’s membership of Honoris United Universities, the first and largest pan-African private higher education network, and the projects approved by the network as part of its efforts to further develop the University.  In response, the President congratulated Nile University for its partnership with the Honoris network.
