2nd Open Day

Nile University of Nigeria held its second Open Day on December 12. The program, themed “Career Development,” was aimed at bringing together workers from various public and private organizations to network, meet with, and be provided useful tips for career success by accomplished individuals in the society. Notable attendees at the event included Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Aras (VC, Nile University), Prof. Dr. Huseyin Sert (Pro-Chancellor, Nile University), Prof. Kemal Ozden (Dean, Nile School of Postgraduate Studies), Aminu Gusau (who represented the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu), Mr. Emmanuel Akissa (representative of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha), Dr. Ngozi Anadi (HOD, Public and International Law, Nile University), and many others.

Delivering the program’s lecture was Dr. Anadi, who stressed the importance of choosing the right career. According to her, one of the reasons why Nigeria has failed to fulfill its potential is that the system forces people into careers for which they are neither suited nor passionate about. To combat this problem, she continued, it is imperative that Nigerians (both individually and collectively) make conscious effort to create an environment whereby individuals are put in professions to which they are suited.

Following Dr. Anadi’s lecture were insightful presentations by Dr. Gusau and Mr. Akissa, who highlighted the efforts of the EFCC and SGF in fighting corruption and ensuring the effective implementation of government policies respectively.

At the end of the presentations, a question and answer session ensued, during which the speakers fielded the questions of the audience. The program ended with the presentation of awards and, subsequently, certificates to the guest speakers (Dr. Gusau and Mr. Akissa) and the event’s participants respectively.
