The Role

The Mass Communication Department seeks to hire a competent TV Studio Technologist that will coordinate and carry out pre- and post-production duties for the Nile TV/Radio and other television programmes. Specifically, the TV Studio Technologist will be charged with the following responsibilities:

  1.  Identify the camera, audio, and lighting equipment needed for the production.
  2. Train students on editing, producing, and preparing files and recordings for on-air programming.
  3.  Oversee setup of  production equipment for the studio, control room, or filming location
  4.  Train students in show formulation, content, and formatting.
  5.  Operate studio equipment to help facilitate flow of programs
  6.  Operate cameras, video recorders, lights, microphones, and computer editing software
  7.   Operate the audio -video mixer consoles specifically Panasonic digital AV Mixer, Air mate audio and video mixing consoles, non-linear editing systems, recording equipment like the DJ-Osmo handheld gimbal, Nikon cameras and Sony, Black Magic video cameras etc.
  8.  Provide technical support with the automated system.
  9.  Perform routine maintenance on audio and video equipment.
10.  Respond to inquiries and issues and assist with actions to correct problems.
11.   During post-production, edit footage, dubs soundtrack, and prepare final version of the program.
12.  Create promotional clips using approved footage
13.  Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications, experience, and attributes

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or any related discipline.
  • A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in radio and television broadcasting or a production studio capacity
  • Membership of a certified professional body
  • Adept user of Microsoft office programmes,
  • Proficiency in the use of audio and video editing software like adobe audition, adobe premiere pro, after effect and final cut for post-production in iMac and Windows computers
  • Ability to effectively operate the audio -video mixer consoles

The Role

Associate Professor of Architecture will report to the Head of Department of Architecture. He/she will teach courses in architecture and architectural design, such as architectural environmental design, interior architecture/design, and landscape architecture and perform the below tasks.

  • Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as architectural design methods, aesthetics and design, and structures and materials.
  • Evaluate and grade students’ work, including work performed in design studios.
  • to teach graduate studio and lecture courses within the professional architecture design program
  • contribute intellectually to the formation of this new professional program by developing curriculum; developing a research and/or creative scholarship program that includes refereed publications, scholarly presentations and grantsmanship appropriate to an assistant academic level; seeking external funding; participating in innovative teaching and curriculum development; and actively engaging in professional organizations

  • A Ph.D. in Architecture
  • Minimum of 10 years teaching and research experience with at least 14 publications in national and international journals.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Department of Architecture, Candidate should have a strong interest in teaching upper year level design studios, and an interest in one or a combination of Contemporary Practice and Urbanism and Digital Media & Digital Workflows.

Other Specific duties include:

  • Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and research students.

  • Candidates must hold a PhD in Architecture or in a related field.

  • Emerging record of research productivity or evidence of contributing to a successful design practice.
  • Candidates must possess demonstrable competence to provide academic leadership with evidence of collaborative research work with academics within the university and elsewhere.
  • Record of peer-reviewed research, patents, competition awards, design awards or other publicly acknowledged design or community engagement work.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach design studio and related courses in a professional degree program, evidence of outstanding design skills, evidence of research/creative scholarship or the ability to develop and maintain an active research/creative scholarly program, and candidates holding a professional license in Architecture.

The Role

The Mass Communication Department seeks to hire a suitable Photography Laboratory Technologist that will help process, develop and review films. Specifically, the Photography Laboratory Technologist will be charged with the following responsibilities:

  1. Select and setup appropriate props, backdrops and lighting.
  2. Train students on editing, producing, and preparing files and films for appropriate shoot and editing.
  3. Operates various, photography Laboratory equipment in other to process various types of film.
  4. Supervise and train students in the practical aspects of photography using both hardware and software.
  5. Operate studio equipment to help facilitate flow of programs.
  6. Operates cameras, lights and computer editing software.
  7. Processes photographic film and digital images, using a range of software and equipment like Adobe Lightroom Classic, Adobe Photoshop Elements, GIMP, Krita, Pinta, Darktable.
  8. Operates and troubleshoots photo lab hardware, software and equipment.
  9. Ensures proper handling of equipment in the photo lab.
  10. Performs Color correction, digital imaging, photo restoration, editing and enhancement using software like Photoshop CS.
  11. Perform daily and routine maintenance of the Photo Lab.
  12. Work with Canon digital SLR camera.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications, experience, and attributes

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or any related discipline.
