Philosophy

The one-year advanced programme aimed at availing students to trends in International Relations and Diplomacy. It combines a blend of relevant intermediate courses to help bridge the gap and prepare a successful student for placement into the Doctorate program in Political Science and related fields.

Objective

To build the requisite capacities needed to succeed either as professionals or doctorate in International Relations & Diplomacy. To foster an in-depth understanding of concepts and theories in the field of diplomacy that will prepare graduate students for placement into doctorate programs.

Study Modules

The course is designed to upgrade students to the methods and theories of political enquiry to accommodate intellectual development of postgraduate students.

Mphil International Relations and Diplomacy - FAQs

  1. Candidates with recognized master’s degree in the relevant discipline may be admitted to the M.Phil. program as appropriate, on the recommendation of the appropriate Faculty Postgraduate Committee.
  2. Candidates with recognized bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Degree.
  3. Candidates must submit O’Level min. 5 Credits including Mathematics and English.

Teaching is carried out through a combination of interactive lectures supported by seminars, workshops, tutorials, case studies and informal one-to-one discussion. They encourage the development of clear analytical skills and create a forum where you can test your ideas against the arguments of your peers.
