Nile University of Nigeria kicked off 2020 with a staff football tournament that featured eight academic and administrative departments—Registry, Maintenance, College of Health Sciences, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Security, Technical, Hostel, and Faculty of Engineering. The five-day competition, which was organized by the Student Affairs department, was designed to provide the university’s staff an opportunity to bond and get rid of the extra fat that is often the inevitable result of the excessive eating that is the hallmark of the December holiday.
The competition, which was packed with several entertaining matches that ranged from highly comical to extremely intense and competitive, concluded with a 2-0 victory for the Security department over the pre-tournament favorites, Team Registry, in a close-fought final. Completing the top three was the Faculty of Engineering team which defeated Team Hostel in the third-place match to finish as the 2nd runner-up.
