Nile University’s Economics Department Hosts a Hybrid Seminar on Grant Writing

The Economics Department of Nile University organized a seminar titled “Writing the Winning Grant” on 6th April 2022. The event which had in attendance students and research scholars from various parts of the world featured insightful presentations on how to write successful research grants from the accomplished Mr. Sunday Alao (Resident Director, International Republican Institute (IRI), Abuja, Nigeria) and Daniella Montemarano (Senior Business Development Specialist, International Republican Institute (IRI), United States), as well as a networking session.

Speaking at the event the Head of the Department of Economics, Prof. Jide Oladipo, who is also a serial research grant writer highlighted the importance of winning a research grant to both the winner and his/her institution and encouraged students and academics to take advantage of the exposure gained from the seminar and tap from the pool of research funds all over the world.

Also commenting on the importance of the event in an academic environment were the University’s officials and student namely Prof. Ebele Amali (Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies), Prof. Benedict Akanegbu, Assoc. Prof Ridwan Adeyemi, and Mr. Pedro Igoni (a PhD student in the Economics Department) thanked the organizer for arranging such a novel event and advised students and academics to think globally and write proposals on contemporary issues in the global space such as the 17 SDGs to enhance their chances of winning.

The seminar was the latest illustration of Nile University’s commitment to building a world-class institution with international imprints in teaching and research, facilitated by its membership of the Honoris United Universities network.
