NICE Fulfills 100% Scholarship Promise to 2019 Best Graduating Student in Civil Engineering

On September 22, 2020, a delegation from the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) led by the Chairman, Engr. Aisha Aliyu Umar, visited Nile University to redeem the organization’s pledge to provide a full postgraduate scholarship to Ms. Fatima Abba Gaji, the best graduating student in the Civil Engineering class of 2019. Speaking at the award ceremony which took place in his office, the Vice-Chancellor of Nile University, Prof. Osman Nuri Aras, commended NICE for honoring its commitment. According to him, in an era where most promises, especially financial ones, remained unkept, NICE’s action is worthy of great praise and emulation.

Prof. Aras further expressed his desire that the scholarship award would herald an even more fruitful and mutually beneficial relationship between Nile University and NICE. Responding to the Vice-Chancellor’s speech, Engr. Aisha Umar stated NICE’s commitment to contributing to the production of sound Civil Engineering graduates at Nile University and beyond.

The event ended with the formal presentation of the award letter and cheque (covering the full cost of the postgraduate program) to Ms. Fatima Gaji by the NICE Chairman. Ms. Gaji will start her Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (M.Eng.) at Nile University in the 2020/2021 academic session.
