The philosophy of the program is to provide graduate education and training in Auditing and forensic management, which will develop and deepen the spirit of enquiry and responsibility in the students, to take on research, teaching in higher institutions, as well as management and accounting responsibilities in public and private sectors of the national and global economies.

AIMS/OBJECTIVES

The M.Sc. Auditing/Forensic Management Program is designed to:

(a) Inculcate the requisite intellectual/conceptual foundations that will permit meaningful participation in the discussion or resolution of the problems which confront the auditing/forensic management discipline in the contemporary world:

(b) Encourage research into problems which impede the maximum contribution of auditing/forensic management to national development and well-being of the people.

(c) Develop skill in auditing and forensic investigation as well as critical analysis to improve the capacity of students in formulating sound investigative policies and strategies.

First Semester

  • Forensic Accounting/fraud investigation

Second Semester

  • Public Sector Accounting
  • Taxation Theory and Practice
  • Forensic Investigation
  • Information Technology in Auditing
  • Elective I (Oil and Gas Accounting)
  • Elective II (International Business Finance)

Year 2

First Semester

  • M.Sc. Accounting Research Seminar

Second Semester

  • Thesis 

The students will be exposed to global accounting practices along with tools for financial managerial decision making. The students will undertake courses in specialized areas of accounting and finance, to enhance competencies.

Entry Requirements

The criteria for admission into the M.Sc. Auditing/Forensic Management program in accounting will be as   follows:

Provided the university's matriculation requirements are satisfied;

a. B.Sc. degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized University with a minimum of second-class lower division may be admitted.

b. A candidate with a degree lower than Second Class Honor may be eligible if he/she has good relevant postgraduate diploma at Upper Credit Level in a relevant area from a recognized university.

How will I be taught?

The programme is delivered through lectures, seminars, workshops, business games, simulation exercises and directed through independent study. The students use a range of accessible supplementary texts, articles, reports and other designated sources, including business games, simulations and websites.
